Anything Sells on eBay
By - Mary I Joyce The fact that eBay has become the biggest used shopping
portal on the internet is no accident. People have fallen in love with the
bidding euphoria that is created each time you bid on an item while trying to
win it. One can say that eBay imitates life. The success eBay has had can be credited, but not limited to
it's huge and diversified range of market reach. There are many people offering
different products and items on a daily basis. Once in a while though there is a weird auction on eBay. One
auction that gained much attention was when individuals began putting their
virginity up for sale and bidding. One particular 'virginity' auction went as
high as 10,000 thousand dollars with about 17 serious bidders. If it was true in
the end though was another matter. Another memorable auction was from someone putting letters of
a 'serial killer' up for bidding. Lastly, there was an auction from a man who was selling his
kidneys on eBay. Some reports claim that final bidding ended at about 5.7
million dollars. Although there wasn't a way to really verify if it was true or
not, some say that in the end the sale was never finalized. The list of weird stuff being sold on eBay goes on. There's
the one night stand with a person's wife, an air guitar, ghost cane and get
this; ghost in a jar. In the end these items were sold just because someone
would bid on it on eBay. The prize for the weirdest item sold on eBay has to go to a
ten year old Virgin Mary grilled cheese sandwich. This item ended up being sold
for a whopping 28,000 thousand dollars. This was by far one of the most weirdest
and publicized item ever sold on eBay. It turns out that the seller, from Miami,
Florida was an old woman who ended getting a tattoo of the image of the sold
grilled cheese sandwich on her chest. MSNBC reported that in November of 2004, eBay had to post the
auction back on it's site after inadvertently removing it since they thought the
auction was a hoax in the first place. (The fact MSNBC reported this meant it
happened for real) An online casino named GoldenPalace turned out to be the
winner. Company executives were delighted to have paid the 28,000 and felt
privileged to have won the 10-year old, half-bitten grilled cheese sandwich.
Many believed it showed the face of the Virgin Mary. One weird fact about this weird auction was that although the
grilled cheese sandwich was said to be 10 years old, it did not show any signs
or traces of mold. Undoubtedly many who read and saw this auction had to go
"Huh?" I know I did. ----------------------------------------------------------------- About The Author: Click Here if you are looking to start selling on eBay ********************************************
