Write What You Know By - Jeanette S Cates, PhD How many times have you read an article and thought "I
know that!" Yet there is an article on someone else's blog, getting rave
reviews from the readers. That person is reaping the benefits of more followers,
more readers, more fame, more subscribers, and more revenue. The question is why didn't you write the article? After all,
you had the knowledge. Now it's just a matter of sharing it. In my experience, people generally use one of the following
"reasons" for not writing about what you know. "I'm just too busy to write" If writing seems too
time-consuming, learn to dictate your articles using a phone-based audio service
or recording software on your computer. Then send it to a transcription service
and you have an article! "Everyone already knows this" Maybe they do and
maybe they don't. People who are experts in their fields often assume others
know a lot more than they do. Go ahead and write it - only those who need to
know or want to know will read it. And to them it's good to learn or to be
reminded of what they already know. "Others have already written it" Maybe they have,
but it's not written from your perspective. There is more than one book on a
topic on the bookshelves. Likewise there are multiple articles on the same
topic. Your readers and followers want to hear it from you. "I'm not a good writer" Writing is just talking on
paper. When you write an article, read it aloud. Keep editing it until it sounds
like you talking. That's the style that most people find most comfortable online
and one you can perfect with a little practice. "What if someone criticizes my writing?" It's true.
When you publish something you open yourself to potential criticism. But for
most writers, the fear of criticism is a lot worse than the reality. Most
people, if they do disagree with you, do so rationally. Even fewer take the time
to disagree in print. And you can choose to ignore them if you prefer! So look at what is holding you back from publishing what you
already know -- then decide to move past it. The rewards you reap from writing
and showing what you know are worth it. You will soon be the person with more
followers, more readers, more of everything you want from your Online Business. ------------------------------------------------------------------- About The Author; Dr. Jeanette Cates is an Internet strategist who works with
