Marketing Tips Classified Ads There is an overwhelming amount of Classified Ad sites on the Internet that let you place an advertisement about your business. Whether or not you find it beneficial, depends on your point of view. There are two types of directories for Classified Ads, one is free classified ads and the other is paid. For the ad you will need to write a brief summary about your business or services, so make sure the words you use have an impact. When using Free ads your exposure is limited. The directories are set up to hold a certain amount of ads and when they fill up, your ad drops off the list. If there is an overwhelming amount of people posting their ads on the site, your ranking moves down the ladder quickly. Note, by using some of these free directories, you may end up receiving a lot of junk email. If you choose to use these directories, do not use your home email address. It is also best not to use FFA (free for all) sites that promise to place your ad in thousands of classified sites. As above, you can end up receiving hundreds of unwanted email which would truly be a waste of your time. With a paid classified ad you will get much more exposure and have a better chance of increasing traffic to your website. You will want to look for targeted sites with classified ads that gets high traffic, you may pay more but your results will be greater. In a paid classified ad, you determine the amount of time you want the ad to run and are charged accordingly. Your ad will stay advertised in the time fame you picked, but you still move down the ladder as new ads come in. Promoting your business through classified ads will not get you as good results as some of the other methods, but you may receive some new business for your efforts. My suggestion is if your going to use classifieds, do not waste a lot of time using this approach and I would stick with the paid classifieds. Banner Exchanges Using banner exchanges may not be the be the best way to promote your business, but it does work for some people. For the most part, banner advertisements are ignored by most viewers today, whereas years ago it was a strong marketing tool. There are many banner exchanges on the web today that you can be part of. The most common exchanges use what they call a 2 to 1 ratio. How this works is, when you join you are given a "html" code to place on your website. This will put a banner on your web page that is linked to other websites that belong to the banner exchange program. For every two times you display the banner, yours will be displayed once on another website that is part of the banner exchange. To get more detailed information on this topic, read our article on Banners at article-banners. To see if using a banner exchange is right for your business, you can go to any search engine and perform a search on this topic.
