Marketing Tips Link Exchanges Link Exchanges also known as “Reciprocal
Links” are an arrangement made by two webmasters to agree to add each others
link on their website. Although there are many similarities using this approach
verses using a joint venture, there is just a slight twist to link exchanges. Most link exchanges are done through a text link,
but they can also be done through banners. The sole purpose of doing a link
exchange is to gain link popularity and to get a significant amount of increased
traffic. When you enter into a link exchange with other websites, the common agreement is to follow through with your promise. If you agree to adding their link, by all means keep their link on your site. If for some reason you need to delete or move their link to another page, contact the webmaster letting them know of the change. Both parties are simply agreeing to add each
others link on their website. When using a text link, a short description of
each other’s website is included with the link. Another tip is; do not exchange links with sites that either bury or hide the link that goes to their link partners page. You should have your link to your reciprocal partners plainly visible on your home page. Adding this link to all of your website pages is an added plus. This encourages other sites to be in favor to doing a link exchange with you. Search engines now look at how many in-coming
links one has for link popularity. This has an effect on where you are ranked in
their search results. Before
entering into a link exchange program, develop
a professional looking website with solid content and navigation links on each
page, making it easy to navigate through. Than look for targeted websites that are relevant to what your site offers. Search engines will frown on sites that have links with no relevance to it. You can perform a search using keywords that would pertain to your website. Take the time to view each of the sites of interest from your search results. Once you have found a website that would be
appropriate for a link exchange, look for the contact information to the
Webmaster and send them an email. If the contact information
includes the webmasters name, make sure you personalize your email by using
their first name in the subject box, as well as in the heading.
In your email, you will want to include your name, your URL, a short description of your
site and your contact information. Another great way to get a jump-start on a link
exchange program is through Sitesell Value Exchange. The Value Exchange generates credible matches, so that each contact
is only facilitated between similarly themed quality sites that have
specifically requested an interest in exchanging links. This is a free service and not to be confused with link farms. You simply
submit a short form with Value Exchange and than in short time you will receive a
confirmation email. You will than receive another email about all
the sites that pertain to your website. At that time you have the opportunity to
view the sites and decide which sites you want to exchange links with (you can
pick and choose). Writing Articles Publishing your own articles and having them listed on your website is another way to get added exposure. Writing an article is basically simple when considering most articles only contain 300 to 2000 words. The idea is to write informative information on topics of interest. Not only can you be looked at as an authority by publishing articles, but you can also submit your articles to article directories to use on their website or ezine publishers to use in their newsletters. There are many directories and newsletter publishers looking for articles with solid content that they can use. At the end of each article you can have a 5 to 6 line bio about you as the author. In your bio you can leave some background information about yourself, as well as some information about your business with a link to your website. This will get you additional traffic to your website at the same time increasing the inbound links going to your site. One other approach you can use, is you can express on your website that you are interested in an article exchange with other publishers. By listing one of their articles on your website, they in turn list your article on their site. Both sites benefit from this arrangement, building link popularity and increasing their rankings with search engines.
